Recently, I uninstalled Steam from my laptop and the problem with the cursor has become less frequent (don't know if these two events are related in anyway), but the cursor will still glitch every so often and move to random places without me doing anything (randomly moving itself to a corner of the screen or opening the notifications bar is the most common). I've scanned for viruses and made sure all updates were applied, and the problem stil persists. It got progressively worse and eventually I stopped using the touchpad and only used my laptop with a USB-connected mouse (it didn't make the problem go away, but it was easier to control the cursor when it glitched). This would last for a few minutes before going back to normal and then repeat itself. About a month or so ago, the cursor on my laptop started to glitch out when I was using the product and then random applications/windows would open up and the zoom would change sporadically in the window.
